Why do you blog?

Q & A with The Understanderman. No cape, but funny blog!

Amatuer Psychologist

A very good Humor blog

Why you started blogging?

I started blogging because I felt like I needed an outlet for some of my thoughts. For whatever reason, simply sharing my genius ideas with my family and friends just wasn’t enough. I get a unique type of satisfaction from hearing that people enjoy my work, and I guess the yearning for it has become a bit of an addiction.

Favorite blog you own?

Favorite blog that is not your own?

Boom For Real. It’s mainly on music. I’ve learned about a lot of cool stuff from there.

What tips would you give to someone wanting to start a blog?

I think it really depends on what you want out of your blog, but if you’re looking for traffic, you’ve really got to have a solid theme. Try and find a particular something that you enjoy posting about. I find these to be a lot more successful than ones that post about a whole hodgepodge of things. Unless, of course, you’re already famous or some sort of exceptional character. Then those are cool.

Where can someone reach you for follow up questions (E-mail, Facebook, Twitter, etc. )?

My opinion: I first came upon Understanderman’s blog by chance. I was just going through random WordPress blogs to read and leave an informative comment with a link in case he wanted to do an interview. Luckily he was gracious enough to do an interview, so I guess my commenting is working. Yay for me 🙂

I liked the way he describes the satisfaction of pleasing a blogging audience as “addiction”. I think it is addicting because it is so much more difficult to please someone online. It is tough to feel someones humor through the internet, so when you come across a genuinly funny blog like Amatuer Psychologist is then I bookmark it. Be sure to read a couple blog posts. It just might make your whole day. This guy is truly that funny. His brain thinks diferently than most, and that is a good thing!

The favorite blog of another bloggers?

What tip would you give to someone wanting to start a blog?

Well I’ve got three things:

1. Be original
2. Provide Great content
3. Don’t forget to update regularly

Where can someone reach you for follow up questions (E-mail, Facebook, Twitter, etc. )? Contact page of

My opinion: Easy to navigate webpage. You can tell that the blogger knows what he is doing and has a lot of useful information. I liked the spot for the 125 x 125 banner ads. They just looked cool to me. This was my first interview with an International blogger, so that is pretty cool to. On top of seeing another cool blog he gave 3 very good blogging tips.

Join Twitter and gain traffic

Get more blog visits...use Twitter

Tweeting is a dumb word, but great concept!

Twitter is my #1 marketing tool. I do not use Twitter in my day-to-day life, but enjoy it immensely when I need to get the word out about something online.

If you have not joined Twitter then you are missing out on a big oppurtunity to gain traffic and unique visitors. To join all you have to do is think of what name you want and password. Pretty easy for how much you have to benefit. Plus you can make a nice custom background. I don’t really get into that type of stuff that much, so mine looks like crap. Plus my name and background is from one of my many failed online endevours. Well I should not say failed, because I did profit from it. GetZooted was an online directory that I babied for a while. I still have fond memories of that project. I went with a crappy cheap host and my directory was always getting viruses. It all ended being a lot of trouble, but in a short time Getzooted was a PR4 directory and I was getting paid submissions and good money for ad space. Anyway….

Follow me @getzooted

I have quite a few followers, but only like 1% click on my links. Still that is 9 or so UVs when all I do is click a button. Plus there is a chance that they will enjoy what I have to say and bookmark my blog.

3 tips to promoting your blog

This post is dedicated to a few different ways to promote your blog. In a earlier post I described my favorite way to promote your blog, and that is to comment on other blogs. Other great ways to gain traffic is by doing these things after you post:

1) Circulate your newest entry through all the social networks that you use. By this I mean Twitter, Facebook, etc. etc.

Blogging tips

All of these Networking sites will help promote your blog

2) Try to always post an image along with your blog post. There is a lot of traffic that comes from people searching for images online. Also, search engines will find your blog easier.

3) Use a blog and ping tool. My favorite is Pinging your sites is a way for the search engines to know that you updated your site. This way it is easy, fast, and free to get your pages indexed. This is a very useful and under-rated tool. I absolutely NEED this blogging tool, and I am sure everyone will find it useful.

I know that this information is not mind-blowing, but be sure to do these three things EVERYTIME that you post and your traffic should increase. Any questions or comments?

What tip would you give to someone wanting to start a blog?

Just blog about what it is that interests you. Don’t focus to much on the traffic it will come.

How can readers reach you?

Twitter @ funmom91

My opinion: I know Victoria has great style since her and I used the same WordPress theme. Victoria has a great blog that lets her readers on the inside of how she makes her money and where she gets her work. It is a very inspiring blog for anyone looking to make a living online.  Keep up the great work Victoria!

My mouth is my moneymaker

What I mean by the title is that the more you comment then the more likely it is that you succeed as a blogger. I realize that in a literal sense my mouth is not making me any money through any actions I do online, but I like that line from a “T.I.” song I believe. Please correct me if I am wrong.

How to blog

Get more blog visitors

Comment is KING (Another T.I. referance).Anyone who has ever tried to blog online knows how much a comment can mean. It feels so good to check your email and get a positive comment from a reader or fellow blogger. This lets you know that you are on the right track and keeps you motivated. This is the main reason I love to comment on blogs that I frequent. The other reason that I leave comments is so that I may be able to receive some visitors from my comment.

How does leaving a comment get you visitors?

When you leave a comment on another bloggers site you usually put down your name, url, and comment. If you leave a comment that someone felt useful they may follow the link that you left when filling out the url box and BOOM you have a visitor.

Another way that commenting gains you a visitor is because most all bloggers are interested to know where their traffic came from and maybe would like to put you in their blogroll. A blogroll is a list of websites that they recommend their readers visit.

The final way that commenting gains you readers is because the more backlinks that a blog has then the more “juice” they will have with the search engines. Everytime that you leave a comment on a “do-follow” blog then you gain a backlink, so commenting pays many times over.

The best part is commenting on others blogs are free. Not only do you win, but the other author does too. Do yourself a favor and try to comment on atleast 3 blogs a day. Make each comment authentic and informative. This free method will help more than most other blogging tips…..even the ones that cost.

BTW that last “tip” was not a referance to “T.I”. If you are not a fan of Hip-Hop or Pop music than I may have you confused, but “T.I.” is a rapper who claims to be the king of the South and also refers to himself as TIP. There no more confusion.
